Forces:
All Armies will be constructed using the army rules found within the Horus Heresy Black Books (Version 2.0) and campaign supplements. Rules/units listed in Exemplary Battles and Legends are allowed. Also the additional rules from the Warhammer community are allied-i.e. Militia and Dark Mech (Any questions feel free to contact me at [email protected] or the Maryland 30k Facebook page)
Each players 2500-point list will be created using the following Crusade detachment: 1-3 HQ, 0-4 Elites, 2-6 Troops, 0-3 Fast Attack, 0-3 Heavy Support. (If an army or Rite of War allows for differing selections then that is acceptable). Questoris Household lists are allowed. Lords of War are allowed but may not make up more than 25% of the total force, so 625 pts in this case.
Notes and Restrictions
Only restriction is no Primarchs or equivalent, so no Valdor
Materials:
Each player must bring typed, printed copies of their army lists for the event staff and your opponents. We suggest 3 copies of each army list.
You must bring any rulebooks, dice, templates, and markers you need to facilitate playing your army. If you forget one of these the store has some that you can buy.
General Rules:
Game results are determined by scoring primary and secondary objectives as given for each mission. Refer to each Scenario Result Sheet for how to calculate Victories, Draws and Defeats. Scoring This event will use the Age of Darkness rules for scoring. Troops units and units with applicable special rules (usually Implacable Advance) count as scoring.
5 Minute Warning:
Players should continue to start new game/player turns until the final five (5) minute warning. After the five (5) minute warning has been announced, NO additional game turns shall be started there will be no exceptions! If the current game turn has not been completed when time has expired, the game will be afforded a grace period in order to finish out the current game turn. This grace period will extend into the break periods and should be reconciled as quickly as possible. The judges reserve the right to end any game that is taking too long to resolve. If you have read this deep into the player packet then kudos to you. To prove that you have read this and deserve your prize you must approach me and answer this question. Did Magnus do anything wrong?
Variable Game Length:
All missions will use the Variable Game Length rule.
Falling Back:
Units that fall back move directly towards their own table edge by the shortest route possible as described in the Heresy Rulebook. As per the Heresy Rulebook, units that are falling back cannot control/deny objectives. Warlords that are falling back at the end of the game are NOT considered slain and do not fulfill the requirements of the Slay the Warlord Secondary Objective.
Battle Results:
At the end of the game, teams should turn in their score sheets to the event organizer who will then announce an overview of the round and event so far and assign the next pairing. At the end all the scores will be tallied up to determine the overall winner, be they Traitor or Loyalist Factions.
Sportsmanship:
If anything crazy or funny happened during the game write it down on the back of the score sheet to be shared with others.
Appearance:
Beautifully painted armies are an important component of our hobby and as such, all armies MUST be fully painted and be composed of era appropriate models and/or appropriate conversions. Event organizers will be reasonable about interpreting this rule but do not show up with a standard Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine army and expect to play.
Awards
Awards will be determined at the end of the Event. Number of Awards will be based on number of attendees. Minium Awards will be Best Painted, Best Loyalist General, and Best Traitor General with options for more depending on turnout.
